Sinharaja Rain Forest

Sinharaja rain forest is a one of wonderful creation of nature and has been presented to Sri Lanka. It is the largest rain forest in Sri Lanka. It covers 11187 hectares of total area in Rathnapura, Gall and Matara Districts. 

A big gathering of endemic flora and fauna can be seen in this rain forest. There are 28 endemic bird species out of 33 can be observed as same as a large number of endemic trees. Because of the huge value of this rain forest, UNESCO announced Sinharaja rain forest as a world heritage site in 1989.
